Contrary to what the album implies, this wasn't her first album. But it was the first and the only album that Mills recorded for Motown. Despite the participation of Bacharach and David, the album received litle attention.

According to allmusic, the album is for historians and die-hard collectors and not recommended to casual listeners.

As of this writing, For The First Time CD is being priced at U.S. $200 in Amazon. Wow ???
