Save The Sunlight by Lani Hall

"Save The Sunlight" by Lani Hall has two versions. The original version is released in 1974 from Herb Alpert and The TJB's You Smile - The Song Begins album. The other version by Lani Hall is from her 1976 album Hello It's Me.

The original version of "Save The Sunlight" is actually a duet of Lani Hall and Herb Alpert. This song reinforces the album's mellow, '70s contemporary atmosphere (from allmusic). The other version from Hello It's Me album is a solo jazzy rendition.

"Save The Sunlight" was written by Buie-Cobb-Lee. Here's the album where I got the original version :

ALBUM: You Smile-The Song Begins
ARTIST: Herb Alpert and the T.J.B.

Do You Miss Me by Morris Albert

From his album Solitude, "Do You Miss Me" by Morris Albert is one of my favorite songs. Nostalgic ? he he he... Just mind the lyrics ;-)

ALBUM: SOLITUDE
ARTIST: MORRIS ALBERT
LABEL: BABY RECORS MILANO ITALY
1981 RELEASED

DO YOU MISS ME
(Geff Harrison-Evans)

When the lights go out
And the sun goes down
And you linger there
Do you think sometimes
Of the fun we had
And the love we shared
In that house on the hill
Yes, we loved the night away
Sweet sunrise sweet sunrise
Do you miss me,
Once in a while, do you miss me
Now and again, do you go
To that house on the hill
Do you miss me, now and again, do you miss me
Once in a while, babe
Do you go to our house on the hill
As the days go by,
Do you sometimes think
Of the time we met
On that rainy night, how we sheltered there
All your clothes were wet
In that house on the hill
Yes, we loved the night away
Sweet sunrise sweet sunrise
Do you miss me,
Once in a while, do you miss me
Now and again, do you go
To that house on the hill
Do you miss me,
Once in a while, do you miss me
Now and again, do you go
To that house on the hill
In that house on the hill
Yes, we loved the night away
Sweet sunrise sweet sunrise
Do you miss me,
Once in a while, do you miss me
Now and again, do you go
To that house on the hill
Do you miss me,
Once in a while, do you miss me
Now and again, do you go
To that house on the hill …

You Are There by Michael Jackson

"You Are There" by Michael Jackson is track number 7 on this very rare CD :

ALBUM : One Day In Your Life
1981 Released by Motown Record Company

You Are There by Michael Jackson
(S. Brown III, C. Yarian, E. Meitzenheimer)

You are there like the laughter of a child
When I need just a smile
Suddenly the sun shines for a while
Everywhere sounds of love are everywhere
And my heart sings along
Thanks to you I finally got a song,
Refrain:
'Cause you are there,
You are there
You are there somewhere
Each time my world seems like it's falling down
Things look up just having you around
So every night I say a prayer
Just because you're there
Like a rainbow after rain
Like the night follows day
You're the answer to the prayers I say,
Refrain:
And you are there,
You are there
You are there somewhere
No matter where I go or what I do
You are there to help me see it through,
So every night I say a prayer,
Just because you're there
Refrain:
Ouuh, you are there,
Oooh, you are there, somewhere
And as the years go by we'll stay as true,
What you are for me I'll be for you
And every night I'll say a prayer,
Just because you're there,
Oooh, you are there,
Oooh, you are there,
Everywhere, you are there

For you my beloved wife... MYR.

Echo Valley 2-6809 by Wayne Newton

Whenever I googled "Echo Valley 2-6809" by Wayne Newton, the search always yielded David Cassidy's version with the Partridge Family. I couldn't find Wayne Newton's version on YouTube.

This gave me the reason to post this song for you to hear Wayne Newton's version. The song was written by Kathy Cooper and, surprisingly (to me, anyway), Rupert Holmes.

Wayne Newton's "Echo Valley 2-6809" was first released on this album:

ALBUM : Daddy Don't You Walk So Fast
1972 Released by : Chelsea Records USA

Tracks :
A1 Love Doesn't Live Here Anymore
A2 Without You
A3 Daddy Don't You Walk So Fast
A4 Baby, I'm A Want You
A5 Walkin' In The Sand
A6 I Believe In Music
B1 Superstar
B2 Take Good Care Of Yourself
B3 Echo Valley 2-6809
B4 We'll Sing In The Sunshine
B5 I'll Meet You Halfway

I got this song from a CD that was available before from Wayne Newton's official website only. But this track is merely a poor transfer from his vinyl album to CD. Here's the CD :

Am I Too Late by Gladys Knight

Am I Too Late by Gladys Knight is her song without the Pips. If not for my friend Tommy, I wouldn't know that this song is also included in Gladys Knight & The Pips Midnight Train To Georgia CD that i earlier posted.

Thanks to my friend Tommy for this beautiful rediscovered nostalgic song...

ALBUM : Midnight Train To Georgia The Best Of Gladys Knight and The Pips
2007 Released by Demon Music Group Ltd.
under Music Club De Luxe in UK

AM I TOO LATE ? (J. Hurt/L. Keith)
I don't understand your hesitation.
You always were so quick to say
What needed to be said.
But you're standing there,
just saying nothing.
Please say something,
just don't tell me I'm too late.
It took a while for me
to understand my feelings for you.
I hope it's not too late,
to say I love you,
'cause God knows I do.
Before you turn away
and the chance I had to love you is gone,
You got to know
I've finally found the feeling
And though I never told you,
I live my life to hold you
Am I too late
to show myself
is it too late to let you know
Do you feel me
Am I touching you
Scares me to think you might say no
Cause it's too late for me to let you go
You got to know
I've finally found the feeling
And though I never told you
I live my live to hold you
Am I too late to show myself
Is it too late to let you know
Do you feel me
Am I touching you
It scares me to think you might say no
Cause it's too late
For me
to let you go
Am I too late
To show myself
Am I too late
to let you know
do you feel me
Am I touching you
Scares me to think that you might say no
Am I too late
To show myself
Am I too late
To let you know
Do you feel me
Am I touching you
Scares me to think that you might say no

Forever Yesterday (For The Children) by Gladys Knight & The Pips

Forever Yesterday (For The Children) by Gladys Knight and The Pips was the 1981 CBS released single in New York intended for the ATLANTA CHILDREN'S FOUNDATION, INC.
After 3 years of looking for a good copy of this song, I finally found the track in this CD:

ALBUM : Midnight Train To Georgia The Best Of Gladys Knight & The Pips

FOREVER YESTERDAY (FOR THE CHILDREN)
Music and lyrics by Glenn Smith

I see the children, I hear them laughing
And I remember not long ago
Play life pretending we were unending.
We had forever yesterday.
We were the children laughing and playing.
We were the morning, shiny and new.
We were forever. When did it happen ?
I don't remember coming through.
I don't remember. When did the music change ?
When did the tears start falling for real ?
Give them forever. Let them be children.
They have the wings and they can fly.
They have the magic. Give them their freedom.
There will be time for them to cry.
When they bid yesterday goodbye
Cherish the children. Give them their right to be.
No man determines the time of a child.
Give them forever. Let them be children.
There will be time for them to die.
When they bid yesterday goodbye.

If You Can Learn How To Fly by Stephanie Mills

"If You Can Learn How To Cry" by Stephanie Mills is from the album For The First Time :

ALBUM: FOR THE FIRST TIME
1975 RELEASED BY MOTOWN RECORD COMPANY
AAD
Tracks :
01. I TOOK MY STRENGTH FROM YOU
02. LIVING ON PLASTIC
03. NO ONE REMEMBERS MY NAME
04. IF YOU CAN LEARN HOW TO CRY
05. LONELINESS REMEMBERS (WHAT HAPPINESS FORGETS)
06. THIS EMPTY PLACE
07. THE WAY I FEEL ABOUT YOU
08. I SEE YOU FOR THE FIRST TIME
09. ALL THE WAY TO PARADISE
10. PLEASE LET GO

Contrary to what the album implies, this wasn't her first album. But it was the first and the only album that Mills recorded for Motown. Despite the participation of Bacharach and David, the album received litle attention.

According to allmusic, the album is for historians and die-hard collectors and not recommended to casual listeners.

As of this writing, For The First Time CD is being priced at U.S. $200 in Amazon. Wow ???

Many thanks to Xami for this beautiful nostalgic song rediscovery.
